Superheroes Tri: Celebrity Wonderwheels Relay

If you've not come across the Superhero Tri Series yet, you really should. It's big, bold and gutsy - the UK's one and only disability sports series for the Everyday Superhero. There are no cut-off times or equipment restrictions so challenges can be a solo or team effort. Pretty much anything goes!

The most recent event, the npower Winter Wonderwheels Relay, took place at Lake Dorney in Windsor which is well known for its Olympic heritage. A few of the Zoggs team went along to soak up the atmosphere and support colleague Suzie Forbes who was participating. She was in a team led by the former soldier and die-hard adrenalin junkie Chris Jones who is a World Champion Surfing Medalist and Invictus Games athlete.

There were 20 celebrity team captains in all. These included Susie Rodgers MBE (Paralympic swimming champion and Zoggs' ambassador), Jonnie Peacock (Double Paralympic, World & European 100m Champion), David Weir (Seven-time London Marathon winner and Six-time Paralympic champion), Adam Hills (Comedian and talk show host) and Kadeena Cox (Sprinting and cycling Paralympic champion).

The npower Wonderwheels event enables teams to cycle, run, walk, push or be pushed around. There were 3 distances to choose from - the 1k lakeside dash, once round the lake (5k) or twice around (10k). Dorney Lake providing the ideal backdrop. There was a superb atmosphere and what a great environment for those taking part too. We all had an amazing time.

There are two annual events coming up next year both of which take place at the wonderful Dorney Lake in Windsor. There's the Superhero Tri on the 18th August 2018 and the npower Winter Wonderwheels takes place on the 2nd December 2018.

There are a few ways you can take part in the Superhero Tri. You can team up, grab a sidekick or fly solo and there are three distances to choose from. The Sprint Superhero Tri Team (150m swim, 3k bike, 1k push/run), a Half Superhero Tri Team (400m swim, 10k bike, 2.5k push/run) or a Full Superhero Tri Team (750m swim, 20k bike, 5k push/run).

The npower Wonderwheels event is on the 2nd December. You can fly solo or compete as a team - cycle, run, walk, push, or be pushed around. There's a 1k lakeside dash which is a straight course designed to provide a workout but short enough to be able to see the finish. You can opt to go once round the lake (5k) and take in the views around this iconic stretch of water which featured so prominently in London 2012. Or why not really challenge yourself and go round twice (10k).
